ABOUT THIS COURSE

Introductory Psychology reviews the material generally taught in a one-semester college-level psychology course. The course introduces major facts, concepts, and principles across the discipline, including: history and approaches of psychology; biological bases of behavior; sensation and perception; states of consciousness; learning; cognition; motivation and emotion; personality; psychological disorders and their treatment; social psychology; and statistics, tests, and measurement.

This is a free, self-paced Modern States course with no prerequisites. It is aligned to the CLEP® Introductory Psychology exam and is designed to prepare you to succeed on the test and earn college credit at no cost.

Modern States originally developed this course in collaboration with David Sitt, PsyD. of Baruch College. Andrew Johnson, Ph.D. of Park University supported course enhancements published in 2025.
