ABOUT THIS COURSE
Spanish Language reviews material typically taught during the first and second years of college-level Spanish study. The course is designed to build the reading and listening skills needed to understand written and spoken Spanish, preparing learners to succeed on the CLEP® Spanish Language exam.
This is a free, self-paced Modern States course with no prerequisites. It is aligned to the CLEP® Spanish Language exam, which combines Level 1 and Level 2 content into a single test. The exam includes separately timed listening and reading sections. Most colleges that grant credit for CLEP® language exams award the equivalent of two or more semesters of credit, depending on your exam score.
Modern States originally developed this course in collaboration with María Isabel Castro, Ph.D. of Boston College and Tufts University. Course enhancements published in 2025 were supported by:
