I failed a quiz. What happens next?

One of the ways Modern States supports learning is by giving learners the flexibility to engage with course material at their own pace.

Consistent with that commitment, learners can reattempt quizzes to check their understanding, revisit challenging concepts, build confidence over time, and earn the 75% average ultimately required to unlock each course’s final exam.

There’s no required wait between attempts. Learners can return to content to review or jump right back in to retake the quiz while the material is still fresh. This helps keep momentum going, especially when learners are working through a challenging topic. And, learners who decide that they want to brush up on prior content in the course – a great reinforcement strategy – can do so knowing that Modern States counts the highest quiz score toward the course average.

When learners reattempt a quiz, they will see a new selection of questions drawn from our question pools. This ensures that they are building knowledge, rather than simply remembering the answers to specific questions they have seen before. Because the question set will be new on reattempts, learners can now see the correct answer to quiz questions they missed on prior attempts, helping them identify gaps in their knowledge and understanding.

This all reflects Modern States’ broader mission: removing unnecessary barriers and making high-quality college learning more accessible. When learners are given room to practice and persist, college credit becomes more achievable and more affordable for more people.
